Uradome Coast & Iwami Station

The clear-water coast from the opening, and the station that is the model for Iwatobi Station.

A 15km stretch of coast designated a national scenic beauty, with clear water, white sand beaches and eroded rock formations. Iwami Station is the model for the station in the series, and the tourist information office there has run collaborations, stamp rallies and merchandise for over a decade.

Pourquoi ça vaut le détour

The sea really is that colour. Tottori is one of the least-visited prefectures in Japan, which is why the coast is as empty as it looks in the show.

Quand y aller

Quiet outside the summer swimming season.

Bon à savoir

Ask at the tourist office by the station first — the town keeps the current collaboration material there and it changes. Trains on the San-in line are infrequent, so check the timetable both ways before you commit to a day here.
