Sengokuhara (the Tokyo-3 residential area)
The plateau north of Lake Ashi where the residential blocks of Tokyo-3 are set. Famous for its silver grass field.
A broad plateau on the northern side of Lake Ashi, and the area the fortress city of Tokyo-3 is placed in — the apartment blocks where Misato and Rei live are set here. It is best known in its own right for the susuki silver grass field, which turns gold in autumn, and for its hot springs and small museums.
Pourquoi ça vaut le détour
The landscape is the point — the caldera, the plateau and the lake are what the city is drawn onto, and the geography of the film only makes sense once you see it.

Bon à savoir
Buses run from Hakone-Yumoto and Gora and are covered by the Hakone Free Pass. Combine with Owakudani and Lake Ashi — the standard Hakone loop passes through all of the Tokyo-3 geography in one day.
