Lieu de l'œuvre
Kada
The mainland town the ferry leaves from, and where the town scenes in the series are drawn from.
A small fishing town at the end of the Nankai Kada line, with narrow lanes running down to the harbour where the Tomogashima ferry departs. Awashima Shrine here is known nationally for the thousands of dolls left at it. The town scenes in the series draw on Kada rather than the island itself.
Pourquoi ça vaut le détour
You pass through it anyway to reach the island, and it is worth the extra hour rather than heading straight for the ferry.
Quand y aller
Quiet outside summer.
Bon à savoir
Check the ferry timetable first and build the town visit around it. It is a lived-in fishing village with narrow lanes — walk, do not drive in.
