Hida-Furukawa Station & Town

The Gifu town that provided the models for the rural scenes — station, library and shrine.

Hida-Furukawa is a small town on the JR Takayama line, and its station, the town library and the local shrine all appear in Your Name as models for the rural setting. The town itself is worth the trip regardless: white-walled storehouses line a canal full of carp, and it is quieter than neighbouring Takayama.

Pourquoi ça vaut le détour

The film's two halves are Tokyo and here. Doing only the Tokyo steps is doing half of it.

Quand y aller

Far quieter than Takayama, even in peak season.

Bon à savoir

Reachable from Nagoya or Toyama on the Takayama line. Combine with Takayama, one stop away, and treat it as an overnight rather than a day trip from Tokyo.

Your Name (Kimi no Na wa)

The station, library and shrine here are the models for the rural setting.
