Musée
Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum & Sazae-san Street
The museum in the suburb Sazae-san is set in, plus a 500-metre street of family statues leading to it.
Machiko Hasegawa lived in Sakurashinmachi, and the museum she founded holds her own art collection alongside her manga work. The memorial hall opposite, opened in 2020 for her centenary, covers her life and the series itself. Between the station and the museum, the 500-metre road is officially named Sazae-san Street and carries bronze statues of the family.
Pourquoi ça vaut le détour
Sazae-san has run continuously since 1969 and is the longest-running animated series in the world. This is the only place dedicated to it, and it is 15 minutes from Shibuya.
Quand y aller
Quiet on weekdays.
Bon à savoir
Closed Mondays. The street statues are free and outdoors, so even if the museum is shut the walk still works. Setagaya is residential — keep the noise down.
