The Zoro statue stands in Ozu Central Park. Ozu is the last town before the road and railway climb into the Aso caldera, which makes it the natural first stop on the eastern half of the statue circuit.
Why it is worth it
It is the one statue on the eastern circuit that is genuinely easy to reach by train.
When to go
Quiet.
Good to know
Higo-Ozu is on the JR Hohi line from Kumamoto, so this one works without a car. The rest of the eastern statues do not.
