ONE PIECE
Ten life-size bronze statues across Kumamoto, placed to help the region rebuild.
Eiichiro Oda is from Kumamoto, and after the 2016 earthquakes the prefecture and the series set up a reconstruction project that placed **ten life-size bronze statues of the Straw Hat crew** across Kumamoto — Luffy on the prefectural government promenade in the city, and the other nine spread through the towns and villages that were hit hardest, including Mashiki, Mifune, Ozu, Nishihara, Minamiaso, Aso, Takamori and Uto. Visiting them is a genuine tour of the region rather than a single stop. In Tokyo, the official Mugiwara Store at Tokyo Solamachi covers merchandise.

Common questions
How many Straw Hat statues are there in Kumamoto?
Ten, one for each crew member, placed across the prefecture after the 2016 earthquakes. Luffy is in Kumamoto city; the other nine are spread through the towns that were hit hardest.
Can I see all ten statues without a car?
Realistically no. Luffy, Chopper, Zoro and Usopp are reachable by tram or train; the rest are in the Aso caldera area with limited bus services. Allow two to three days with a car.
Why are the statues in Kumamoto?
The author, Eiichiro Oda, is from Kumamoto. The statues were placed as part of a reconstruction project after the 2016 earthquakes, deliberately sited in the worst-hit towns to bring visitors there.
