Anime location
Kurazukuri street & the Bell Tower
The main street of black-plastered warehouse buildings, and the wooden bell tower behind it. Drawn throughout the series.
A street of surviving Edo and Meiji merchant warehouses with heavy black-plastered walls and tiled roofs, and the Toki no Kane bell tower on a lane behind it, which still rings four times a day. The series draws these streets closely, and a candy alley of old confectioners runs off to the side.
Why it is worth it
Kawagoe is one of the best day trips from Tokyo whether or not you know the series, which makes it the easiest pilgrimage here to bring non-fans along on.
