Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine
The shrine from the series, known separately for its summer wind-chime installation.
A shrine north of the old town, long associated with matchmaking, which appears in the series. In summer it hangs thousands of glass wind chimes along a covered walkway, which has made it one of the most photographed places in Saitama quite apart from the anime.
Why it is worth it
It is free and it is on the walk between the station and the warehouse street, so it costs no detour.
When to go
Very busy during the summer wind-chime period.
Good to know
The wind-chime installation runs for a limited period in summer and is heavily crowded — check the shrine's dates before assuming it will be up.
