Tsuki ga Kirei

Kawagoe is the easiest pilgrimage on this site to bring non-fans on, because it is one of the best day trips from Tokyo regardless. The series draws the warehouse-lined main street, the bell tower behind it and Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine to the north closely enough to navigate by. Go on a weekday morning — at weekends the main street is shoulder to shoulder — and leave time for the candy alley of old confectioners running off the side.

    Weekday mornings only if you want space. The candy alley runs off the side of the main street.

    Hon-Kawagoe (Seibu) or Kawagoe (JR / Tobu), then bus

    The summer wind-chime installation runs for a limited period and is heavily crowded — check the dates first.
