Encouragement of Climb

A 197-metre mountain 50 minutes from Ikebukuro, and the reason a lot of people started hiking.

The series is set in **Hanno** in Saitama, 50 minutes from Ikebukuro on a direct train, and it begins on **Mount Tenran** — 197 metres, about 20 minutes from the trailhead, and genuinely climbable in ordinary shoes. That is the point of the show and the point of the mountain: it is the smallest possible real hike, and a lot of people credit the series with getting them onto trails. The city publishes a location map, the ridge continues into the Hanno Alps for anyone who wants more, and the Hanno riverside below is where the characters camp.
