The reason to seek out Gundam in Japan is the **life-size statues**, and both are free to watch. The 19.7-metre Unicorn Gundam stands outside DiverCity in Odaiba and performs a transformation sequence several times a day, with a lighting show after dark. The RX-93ff ν Gundam stands outside LaLaport Fukuoka. Next to each is a Gundam Base store carrying the widest Gunpla range in the world, including Base-limited and clear-colour kits that are never exported — so the statue and the shop are one stop, not two.

Is the moving Gundam in Yokohama still there?
No. GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA closed in 2024. Many guides still list it. The two life-size statues that remain are the Unicorn Gundam in Odaiba and the ν Gundam in Fukuoka.
Does it cost anything to see the Gundam statues?
No. Both statues are outdoors and free to watch, including the transformation and lighting performances. Only the Gunpla you buy afterwards costs money.
Where can I buy Gunpla not sold overseas?
The Gundam Base stores next to each statue. They carry Base-limited kits, clear-colour variants and factory exclusives that are never exported.
