Crayon Shin-chan
Kasukabe is the actual town, and the city hall has the statues.
Shin-chan lives in **Kasukabe**, a real commuter town in Saitama, and unlike most series set in a real place, the town is named outright and treated as itself. Kasukabe Station uses a Shin-chan departure melody and carries the family on its signage, **Kasukabe City Hall** has bronze statues of Shin-chan and Himawari in manga-accurate clothing, and the tourist information centre has a permanent corner. The series is enormous across Asia, Europe and Latin America and comparatively little-known to English-speaking fans, which means this is one of the quieter pilgrimages despite the scale of the franchise.

Questions fréquentes
Is Kasukabe a real place?
Yes, and unusually the town is named outright in the series and treated as itself. It is 40 minutes from central Tokyo on the Tobu Skytree line.
What is there to see?
Bronze statues of Shin-chan and Himawari in manga-accurate clothing at the city hall, a Shin-chan departure melody at the station, and a corner at the tourist information centre.
When is the city hall open?
Weekday office hours only. It is a working local government building, so go during the day, be brief and do not obstruct people conducting business.
