A temple reached by a steep stone stairway at the edge of the preservation district, with Fumeikaku — a small raised wooden hall built out over the slope — above it. The open platform looks back down over the tiled roofs of the old town, and it appears in the series.
Why it is worth it
It is the view of Takehara, it is free, and almost nobody climbs up to it.
When to go
Quiet.
Good to know
The stairway is steep. Go up at the end of the walk through the preservation district rather than at the start.
