Tamayura

A preserved Edo merchant town on the Inland Sea, and a series about photographing it.

Tamayura is set in **Takehara**, a small city on the Inland Sea in Hiroshima whose old merchant quarter — white walls, wooden lattice, stone lanes — is a nationally designated preservation district. The series is about a girl photographing the town, which makes the pilgrimage and the point of the show the same activity. The city publishes two official routes, a central one you can walk or cycle and a wider one, with rental bicycles by the tourist office. Takehara is about 90 minutes from Hiroshima.
