The French-style wooden building used as the library in the research episode.
A reconstruction of a Meiji-era Western-style wooden schoolhouse, now Takayama city library, standing at the southern end of the old town near the Jinya. It appears in the series as the library, and the exterior is worth seeing whether or not you go inside.
Why it is worth it
It is on the walk between the old town and Hie Shrine, so it costs no detour.
When to go
Quiet.
Good to know
It is a functioning public library. Inside, keep quiet and do not photograph other users. Check the closing day before travelling.
