A traditional farmhouse up a valley outside Kamiichi, borrowed from its owner by a local NPO and opened to the public as the house from the film. The kitchen, the furniture and the pillar marked with the children's heights are recreated as they appear on screen. It runs on donations and an unstaffed souvenir stall.
值得去的理由
Almost no pilgrimage site is maintained by neighbours rather than a company. It is free, it is furnished, and you can sit in it.
什麼時候去
Quiet.
先知道會比較好
It is up a narrow mountain road with no public transport — a car or taxi from Kamiichi station is required, and winter access is limited. Confirm it is open before setting out. Leave a donation; that is what keeps it open.
