Three facilities in the castle park: a late-Edo farmhouse relocated here with its hidden doors, reversing walls and floor traps restored and demonstrated; an exhibition of tools and documents; and a ninjutsu demonstration using real weapons, performed by a resident troupe. The single most common question from overseas NARUTO fans is where to see real ninja. The honest answer is Iga, and it has nothing to do with the manga — which is the point.

The show and the shuriken throwing cost extra on top of admission — budget for all three. Iga is about 90 minutes from Osaka or Nagoya. Many visitors rent a ninja costume in town, which locals treat as completely normal.
