Chichibu Day: Anohana
The bridge from the opening, the temple with the ema, and a hot spring at the end.
Chichibu is 80 minutes from Ikebukuro on a single direct train, which makes it one of the easiest mountain days from Tokyo. Pick up the free pilgrimage map at the tourist information centre in front of Seibu-Chichibu Station, walk out to the Old Chichibu Bridge — a preserved three-arch bridge above the Ara river, and the location from the opening — then work back through the town to Jorinji temple, where the ema racks are filled with plaques left by visitors over more than a decade. Finish at the hot spring by the station.
