The arcades and shopping streets immediately around Numazu station, where individual businesses display character standees and run their own goods and menu collaborations. The arrangement has been maintained for years by the shopkeepers rather than as a campaign.
Why it is worth it
There is no single building to head for — the town itself is the destination, which is what makes Numazu different from a themed facility.
When to go
Busy on weekends and series anniversaries.
Good to know
Bring cash, as not all the small shops are cashless. Do this before heading out to Uchiura, since bus services to the bay are infrequent.
