Hanno Riverside
The river beach below the town where the characters camp. Free, and busy with barbecues in summer.
A wide shingle beach on the Iruma river right below the town centre, used for camping in the series. In summer it fills with families barbecuing; the rest of the year it is empty and the water is clear.
Why it is worth it
It is a fifteen-minute walk from the station and it is the other half of the Hanno day, along with Mount Tenran.
When to go
Very busy on summer weekends.
Good to know
Take your rubbish with you — the site has had problems with litter from barbecue users. The river is shallow but the current is real after rain.
