Weathering With You
The rooftop shrine is real and in Ginza. The derelict building it sat on is gone.
Say the awkward part first: the derelict building with the external staircase, **Yoyogi Kaikan**, was demolished and the site redeveloped. It is not there and it is not coming back, and a lot of guides have not caught up. What is real is the **rooftop shrine** — Asahi Inari Shrine, on the roof of an office building in Ginza, reached by a lift and open to anyone. That is the model for the shrine where Hina receives her power, and it is one of the strangest and best small sights in central Tokyo. The rest of the film is scattered across Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Tabata and the Kozushima islands, drawn as they are.
