Chiikawa

The character that took over Japanese merchandise shelves, with a permanent store under Tokyo Station.

Chiikawa went from a web manga to the single most visible character line in Japanese merchandise in a few years, and its popularity has spread quickly across Asia. Chiikawa Land inside Tokyo Character Street, in the basement of Tokyo Station, is a permanent store rather than a pop-up, and it is often the busiest shop on that corridor. Because it is inside the station and outside the ticket gates, it works as a stop on a transfer or on your last morning in Japan.

Common questions

Where is the official Chiikawa store?

Chiikawa Land Tokyo Station, inside Tokyo Character Street in the basement of Tokyo Station Ichibangai.

Is there a queue?

Often, and entry can be controlled by numbered ticket at busy times. Go early in the day, and check the store's notices before travelling.

Are there pilgrimage locations?

No. The setting is invented, so the stores are the whole of it. That is the nature of the property rather than a gap in coverage.
