Anpanman
The author's home valley in Kochi, and the museum he designed himself.
Anpanman is one of the largest children's properties in Asia, and there are Anpanman Children's Museums in Yokohama, Nagoya, Sendai, Kobe and Fukuoka. The original, though, is the **Yanase Takashi Memorial Museum** in **Kami** in Kochi — the author's home area, deep in rural Shikoku, where he was personally involved in the design. It reopened after refurbishment in 2025. If you are travelling with small children this is the trip; if you are not, the city museums are the easier option.
